Sai Kung born and raised Xavier Tsang started crafting candles with his mother years ago and he has since grown his enterprise into Be Candle, a successful fragrance business launched in 2012, in his hometown of Sai Kung, known as the 'back garden of Hong Kong'.

Xavier brings his background in furniture design into his work and has a strong focus on craftsmanship, creative collaborations and innovative design.

All Be Candle products are proudly made in Hong Kong.

Be Candle support underprivileged mothers to support their families through handmade crafts, in collaboration with the NGO J Life Foundation. They have set up a small production line for the women at J Life to learn the art of candle making, and after months of training they have become experts.

Through making candles for Be Candle, these underprivileged mothers are able to earn a wage from meaningful and fulfilling work. This successful collaboration has brought positive impact, providing opportunities, confidence and community support.

With a focus on sustainability, Be Candle's designs often explore interesting ways to reuse waste materials, for example coffee grounds. Their collaboration with local designer Niko Leung on the project "Our Land", using soil from construction sites to make stunning candles won the 'Design for Asia Award Gold Award' in 2023.

Their refill service, R Lab, allows customers to easily have their candle vessels refilled, avoiding unnecessary waste.
